Description
Sodium Nitrite (NaNO2)
Targeted support for complete nitrification
Sodium Nitrite is a specialist tool used to strengthen nitrite-oxidising bacteria and confirm full nitrification capacity. It is primarily used during commissioning, diagnostics, or biofilter recovery in fishless or expert-managed systems.
Used for:
-
Balancing nitrification
-
Preventing nitrite stalls
-
Confirming biofilter readiness
Typical Application
-
Fishless systems preferred
-
Very small, measured doses only
-
Continuous monitoring required
Indicative Dosage
- Applied typically as a one-off dose at inoculation with NMI+. Applied at a low concentration 1-3ppm for controlled nitrite loading
- If following up with ammonia chloride incremental dosing, it is unlikely you will need to a follow up dose of sodium nitrite
Critical Safety Information
- Nitrite is toxic to aquatic livestock at high enough quantities
- Not intended for routine use in stocked systems
- Use only with appropriate expertise
Best used with:
NMI+, Bloom, Ammonium Chloride and Carbonate Hardness Increaser – (kH) Generator
